Join us for the 158th Anniversary of the Battle of Pleasant Hill with a festival & re-enactment from April 8 – Sunday, April 10, 2022. Re-enactments and activities will take place 3 miles north of Pleasant Hill at 23271 Hwy. 175, Pelican, LA.

This outstanding Civil War re-enactment portrays the historically recorded events of the battle with the help of more than 400 re-enactors. The town will commemorate the event with a parade, period ball, church service and open camp activities throughout the weekend. Re-enactments take place on Saturday, April 9 and Sunday April 10 at 2:00 pm. Entry fee is $5 per person (5 and under free). Parking is free!

  • 6:30 Luminary Memorial Ceremony- Battlefield (FREE and open to the public)
  • 7:00 p.m. Period Ball and Court Presentation –Elam-O’Pry House (Period dress suggested)

  • 1:00 p.m. Crowning Ceremony of 2021-2022 Miss Battle of Pleasant Hill, followed by Opening Ceremony
  • 2:00 p.m. Battle Re-enactment

The Battle of Pleasant Hill took place on April 9, 1864 and was one of the major battles of the Civil War. As part of the Red River Campaign, it was fought by Union soldiers who sought to march on to Shreveport and Confederate soldiers who sought to keep control of the area. An estimated 3,100 people were killed in the battle; 1,100 Union forces and 2,000 Confederate.
